Why Do I Write? Why Do You?
I write because the act of writing helps me make sense of myself and the world around me. Writing helps me connect to others. Writing helps me put words to the feelings inside.
Have you ever read a book that just changed you? When I was 12 years old I read The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen and I vividly remember heading into my language arts class the day after finishing the book. I asked my teacher how to become a writer.
That book is the reason I'm a writer. I read that story when I was twelve years old, and that was the first time I ever 'met' someone like me. Who was struggling with the same things, who felt the same things, and I saw her have hope. As a lonely kid who always felt weird but couldn’t put words to it, I loved the feeling of seeing someone in print who got what I was feeling.
I believe wholeheartedly that books and sharing stories makes the world a better place. I write because of the connection I feel to other humans through words. I write because I can't not. Why do you?
We all have stories worth telling that need sharing, and I want to help you tell your story in your own words. I’m now available for 1:1 writing coaching and if you’re interested in learning more, email me and we can set up a short discovery call to see if my coaching is a good fit for you.
