Why are you stuck?

Have you been writing lately? Yes? Great! What’s working for you? Make sure to celebrate your consistency and enjoy the process.

No? That’s ok! We all get stuck. If you’re having a hard time, it may be external factors holding you back:

  1. Your schedule

  2. Your environment

  3. Your stress levels or headspace

If you’re not currently writing, you are not alone and there’s nothing wrong with you. Try journaling for 10 minutes in the morning for a week and see what you come up with. You can journal whatever random thoughts are in your head, or write to a prompt like “today I’m grateful for” or “I am feeling____ and I want to feel___”

If your environment is distracting you, set a timer for 15 minutes and do a quick tidy up. Wash those dishes, make your bed, close your closet doors.

If you’re feeling tired and sluggish, go outside, Walk. Take deep breaths.

If you don’t like what you’re working on, work on something else. You’re allowed to! There are NO RULES to creativity.

If you want to treat yourself, check out this collaboration I did with The Capsule Collab with my No Rules Notebook. The Creativity Booster Pack has the notebook I designed, grammar snob pencils, sticky notes, and inspirational stickers, which may help put a little pep in your step. I know fresh notebooks always excite me!

And if you want a little more help working through your writer's block, try my Breaking Through The Block, a step-by-step guide to break through your stuck-ness and get you writing again. It’s a free 17-page resource workbook I designed just for this purpose.

As always, let me know how I can help you with your writing practice and progress.
