Writers Ask For Help
It’s ok to ask for help.
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by your writing process, practice, or project but don’t know where to go?
Do you feel comfortable asking for help? Or does writing feel like something you have to hold close to your chest so that no one can see when you feel insecure?
For the longest time, I felt like I had to put on an impressive face and over-sell how “well” my writing was going, because I didn’t want to admit when it wasn’t going well. I didn’t want anyone to tell me that what I was doing wasn’t worth my time or “real” work.
Unfortunately, too often creative pursuits get labeled as hobbies or fanciful dreams. Which, they can be, because we are allowed to have fun, we are allowed to be fanciful, we are allowed to have hobbies that are not monetized into side hustles.
When I started asking for help, I started gaining clarity and confidence. When I asked for help, I was lifted up and freed, not put down or trapped in a smaller box.
I got help with my career—and went from being on the sidelines, pursuing creative-adjacent jobs that made me miserable and writing as a side hustle to pursuing writing full-time as a career. If you want to learn more about that, email me!
And when I asked for more help with my writing—I found support and encouragement that made me feel confident, and helped me take bigger strides with my novel instead of making me want to give up and start over.
So, ask for help. Start by asking me! I’m your biggest cheerleader and I’ll help you get your writing to where you want to be. All you have to do is ask.
